thankful

i'm thankful for the nicer weather we've had the last couple of days. jackson and i try to go for a walk most days, but with it being so cold we've been walking at the mall. although walking with folks from an older generation can be fun, it has been nice to get outside for our walk. there aren't sidewalks near our house, so i've been packing up jackson and the stroller and heading to downtown coeur d'alene. there are lots of things for jackson to look at, including a beautiful lake, geese, trees, the big condos his daddy's working on, etc and there are nice big sidewalks and paths for us to use. it just feels so good to get some fresh are and enjoy the outdoors.

i must have been dreaming

this morning i heard that jackson was awake, but since he sounded happy and i was still tired, i let him play in his crib for awhile. all of a sudden i'm sure i heard him say "mama" as clear as day. now, i was half asleep due to getting only about 3 hours of sleep (not due to jackson...he's been sleeping pretty good. it was because of my stupid restless legs...VERY annoying). so, i guess i could have been dreaming, but maybe not...but probably :)

yummy

monday marked another first for jackson...the introduction on bananas. and they're a hit. i did learn, however, not to use the blender when the baby is already hungry and tired. it really freaked him out. thankfully he calmed down when he tasted the yummy banana puree. what should we try next?!

what a lovely sound...

at this moment jackson's getting a big kick out of his daddy blowing raspberries at him. i just LOVE to hear his laughter and to see he and his daddy enjoying each other so much. oh, and eric's getting about as big of a kick out of this and jackson is. what a lovely sound!

who would have thought...

that jackson would enjoy the little plastic bear (that was used to weigh the valentine's balloon eric got him) more than any of his other toys? he usually plays with it while in his exersaucer. it's fun to watch him try to pick it up from the tray, since it's thin and lies flat on the tray...he'll start whining if he can't get it.

neat seat...

we decided it was time to get jackson a new car seat. he hasn't quite outgrown the infant one, but we found this one for such a good deal ($80 cheaper than at target), we decided to get it now. also, he's constantly pulling his head up while in his infant seat, so i think he'll like sitting up a bit more. we haven't gotten it put in the car yet, but we let him try it out in the house. he seemed to like it, but who knows, maybe he doesn't really care.

the nice thing about the seat we chose is that it's a 3-in-1. it can be used as an infant seat (it reclines) up to a booster seat. so it'll be the last one we'll have to buy for him.

good boy!

if you read my blog regularly, you know eric and i rock (rather gently bounce) jackson to sleep. lately he's been wiggling a lot while trying to fall asleep. this gets kinda annoying. so, last night eric just put jackson in his crib to calm down for a bit (we do this fairly often). but something happened last night that hasn't ever happened before...all of a sudden we realized it was quite. jackson fell asleep all by himself (even without his pacifier)! usually, he'll start crying and we'll go in and pick him up and bounce him to sleep.

today i put him down for his first nap and did the same thing. i did have to go in once to pat his back for a minute...but he's now sleeping. i'm so proud of my little man. hopefully, he'll keep it up!

you're not in the johnny jump-up

jackson has a johnny jump-up and an exersaucer. he really likes jumping. so, often when he's playing in his exersaucer he decides he wants to jump. i'm not sure weather or not he cares that it doesn't bounce back like when he's in the johnny jump-up, but it's funny to watch!

i'm it...

i got tagged by my cousin, dave. this one seems kinda fun. so, here goes...

Here are the rules:

1. Pick up the nearest book of 123 pages or more. No cheating!
2. Find page 123
3. Find the first 5 sentences
4. Post the next 3 sentences
5. Tag 5 people

the nearest book to me was Super Baby Food by Ruth Yaron...i know, this may not be too exciting.

"I feed my baby this meal in the morning at around 8-9 am, after I've gotten the older kids off to school. The baby can wait to eat his breakfast because the milk feeding he drank upon awakening tides him through the early morning. The main meal includes egg yolk"

nap time?

the other day i put jackson down for a nap. apparently he wasn't tired. i heard him in his room "talking", but i just let him be for about 10 minutes. when i went in, this is what i found...he's holding the positioner we use to help him stay on his side. i had just put it behind him instead of putting him between the two wedges, which is what we usually do. (see his feet sticking out the slats?!) i think you can tell by his eyes that he was enjoying himself...silly boy!

a present from daddy

eric came home with a valentine's balloon for jackson. he was very excited about his gift! jackson liked the sound the balloon made and it was fun to watch him try to bite it.

(don't worry, eric also came home with 2 dozen tulips and a willow tree figurine for me!)

i forgot something...

so in my previous post, i forgot to mention why i answered all those questions. it was because i was tagged to do another meme. i also forgot to tag anyone else. i'll tag amy (because i don't know anything about how she met tim or about their wedding...and i want to know).

roll over, roll over

it seems like jackson may have gotten the hang of rolling over from back to tummy AND tummy to back. however, he only goes to his left. one thing at a time, little man...one thing at a time :)

hop on pop...

...or just give him hugs.
we got jackson a stuffed "pop" from the book HOP ON POP by dr. seuss. eric put jackson down on the floor and gave him pop to play with...he really likes pop (and as you can see in the picture, pop likes jackson, too). it was fun to watch jackson talk to him and give him hugs. eric snapped the above picture. cute, huh?!

jackson pulled a caleb...

jackson was playing on the floor (on his back...because he really doesn't like being on his tummy) and i was reading some blogs when i heard him starting to fuss. i looked over and found out why...he was on his tummy! now he was stuck. he has rolled over from his tummy to his back but only 3 times and that was about 3 or 4 weeks ago. so, i helped him get back over and i imagine that's where he'll stay for now. well, at least he's started rolling over (even though it's not something he seems to think he needs to practice much!)

ps the reason i said 'jackson pulled a caleb' was because of a post from my friend lauren about a similar situation that happened to her.

new sounds

jackson started making gargling sounds yesterday. i think it must go along with the extra amount of saliva he seems to be producing these days. nevertheless, it's sounds cute!
